Diabetes is an escalating concern in the United States. It is thought it is increasing in incidence because of our populations lack of exerise, and diets high in fat and sugar.
Eating healthy nutritional foods, even with a sedatary lifestyle,
can help delay the onset of diabetes.
Chocolate being a superfood... as well as the acai berry
Combine them and you have Xocai!
Why and how is this Xocai safe for Diabetics?
Xocai is made with natural low glycemic sugars which are better for all of us because they are in their natural state, not refined. Also, contrary to what we've often been taught, table sugar itself is less of a threat to one's sugar levels than a baked potato! Most of you who are diabetic should already know that, but those of us who aren't learn when we ourselves or a close family member is diagnosed.
Not only is Xocai made with low glycemic sugars, it is also low in carbohydrates... the drink being the lowest.
About my mom...
When my mother started eating Xocai, she was re-learning how to eat because she had just recently been diagnosed with diabetes. She was being careful with her sugar and carbohydrate intake and the Xocai chocolate was a great find for her. After looking at the labels, she decided she could easily fit the Activa drink and a XoBiotic into her daily limits and was looking forward to eating chocolate everyday, even if it didn't do anything else for her. Her results were nothing short of quick & amazing! Her A1C levels, well... See her story here for yourself. She continues to do better all the time and is getting of some of her medications right now.
So... How does chocolate and acai help a Diabetic?
Cocoa is rich in flavonoids (flavonols) & antioxidants. Studies have shown that people with high levels of flavonoids in their blood have a lower risk of heart disease, lung cancer, prostate cancer, asthma, and diabetes. Flavonoids possess anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antibacterial, anticancer and antiviral properties.
Flavonols can protect the cardiovascular system and improve the utilization of insulin. Cocoa flavonoids make the body more sensitive to insulin, reducing blood sugar levels.
Acai is one of the most antioxidant rich food sources available, with cocoa (unprocessed chocolate) being just under it in antioxidant values.
Keep in mind that acai must be freeze dried shortly after harvest to maintain it's nutritional values. Most products that are sold promoting acai don't tell you their ORAC (antioxidant value) or how they were processed because likely they were not freeze dried, if they were they would certainly promote it as such.
Antioxidants help rid the body of free radicals, molecules that steal electrons from healthy cells creating more free radicals. Free radicals occur naturally when you age, exercise, even when you breath... and don't forget about the cleaners you use, the pesticides and herbacides that are used to grow our foods and keep our lawns, and if you smoke you're really introducing free radicals into your body.
I want to see people enjoying a healthier, longer life...
and if it means you get to eat the sweetness of chocolate when you thought you couldn't... that's plain greatness!
